Welcome to Southern Smashers Online!
Southern Smashers is a division of the Columbia Youth Athletic Club (CYAC). CYAC was founded 4 years ago by Emmett Eddy and Sonya Jenkins. We are a Junior Volleyball Club and a member of the Palmetto Region of USAV (United States Association of Volleyball) We are are currently competing in the 2008-2009 volleyball season.
We've grown since last year we now have two teams, ages 15 and under and ages 17. We have also added two more coaches to our staff. We will attempt to share our hopes, our guidelines, our philosophies, and what it takes to become successful in our program. Our team is comprised of young ladies that range in ages from 12-17. We hope this information will assist you in making an informed decision about whether Southern Smashers is a fit for you and your family. We certainly hope you will decide to remain a member of our family for some time to come.
Our Mission
Committed to diversity, Southern Smashers is here to serve athletes in its charge. We are here to help them "MEET" there potential at this point in their career. There is a distinct difference between having potential and "BEING" a high caliber volleyball athlete. We hope to place our athletes in a category labeled "High-Caliber" by pushing them beyond their limits and showing them a new threshold of performance. Our focus is on individual development as opposed to that of the team. In the pursuit of collegiate scholarships, it is our belief that the elite skills always find homes. We hope to have winning teams; but we "will" pursue the development of elite skill for our players. Many athletes that pursue club volleyball hope to continue in college. Many college coaches search for elite players to plug into their system. We hope to develop such an athlete.
